1. Something Fun: Glow in the Dark Dance Party
I saw this glow in the dark dance party video this week and thought it would be so much fun to do as a family!
Grab a pack of glow sticks and tape them on yourselves. Turn out the lights and have a glow in the dark dance party! Make up a short dance or two together and record your family performance. Wouldn’t this be so fun and make amazing home videos!?

2. A Little Lesson: 3-2-1 Sibling Appreciation
Whether you use this activity regularly or just at the end of a contentious day, it’s a simple way to encourage sibling appreciation.
Ask your child to share the following:
- 3 things you appreciate about your sibling
- 2 things you like doing with your sibling
- 1 thing you could do to be kind to your sibling

Wondering how to fit Little Lessons into your busy family schedule?
The two main ways to fit important lessons into your busy family schedule are to find spontaneous teaching moments throughout the day and to schedule family learning time each week. These two posts go into detail about these two ways and tips for making it happen with your family.

3. A Service Idea: Support Each Other
I always appreciated when my siblings or friends came to support me in my activities. Even if my big brothers did do all they could to embarrass me at times with really loud “support.” 🙂
Go to a game, concert, or other activity to support each other or go as a family to support a friend. Sometimes simply showing up is a great service.
Service is a great way to build a stronger, happier family. If you want more service ideas, request Raising Compassionate Children in a Conceited World, which includes 101 Service Ideas for Families.
4. Something Random: Trivia
Do you know…
This was the first advertisement aimed at kids so they’d ask their parents for the toy. “Pester Power” was born, and marketing has never been the same. (So sorry to all us parents!)
If you know the toy, share in the comments!
5. A Quick Tip: What to Teach
Teaching is one of our most important roles as parents.
There’s something really powerful about committing ideas to paper. Periodically, sit down and brainstorm a list of things you want to teach your kids. Think about what has helped you find success in life (how ever you define that), what helps you be happy, and what you wish you would have learned sooner.

Pick one thing and find ways to teach by modeling, explaining, and providing experience for your kids.
