Simple Baby Jesus Craft: DIY Christmas Craft Tutorial
With the bustle of shopping, falling snow, and breaks from school, sometimes the Christmas season can get busy. However, we can help our children understand why we celebrate Christmas. Christmas is a wonderful time to focus on the birth and life of Jesus Christ. This simple, budget-friendly Baby Jesus craft will help your kids think about the true reason for the season.
Materials for the Baby Jesus Craft
We made our Baby Jesus ornaments from materials I had around the house. If you don’t have these materials, they could easily be substituted. (I give a couple suggestions.) I’ve also included links for your convenience, if you want to purchase the materials.

Materials:
- Colored craft foam sheets (or colored cardstock or construction paper)
- Pipe cleaner for crafts (or yarn)
- Wood craft stick (or cardstock)
- White fabric (We used some scrap material I had. You could also use a white mismatch sock or even a napkin.)
- Scissors, Marker, and glue. (We used a Hot Glue Gun because I wanted it dry really fast. You could also use Elmer’s Glue.)
How to Make the Baby Jesus Craft
1. Draw or trace a star shape onto a sheet of craft foam and cut it out. Poke each end of the pipe cleaner through opposite sides of the star. Twist the pipe cleaner ends around itself to hold it in place. Kids love working with pipe cleaners!
2. Draw a face on one end of the wood craft stick. Cut a small piece of the fabric and wrap it around the stick like a blanket. Use a dab of glue to hold the fabric in place.
3. Glue the Baby Jesus onto the star. Hang it on your Christmas tree or in your child’s bedroom!
The Real Reason for the Season
I hope this simple Christmas craft gives you a moment to talk about the Christ Child with the Littles in your life. I am eternally grateful that God sent His Son to show their love for us. It is among my greatest desires to help my children feel that love for themselves.
May you and your family be blessed by Jesus Christ throughout this season and always.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son… For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
John 3:16-17
