3 Things Only Parenting Bloggers Know

If you are going to trust a parenting blogger with your time and then think about following their suggestions, you really ought to know a thing or two about them. You ought to understand their world. So here’s a look behind the curtains at three things only parenting bloggers know.

3 Things Only Parenting Bloggers Know from www.lovinlifewithlittles.com. #humor #blogger #mommyblog #parentingblog

1.  Every post carries a curse.

We are actually very brave to post about parenting. It’s not necessarily because people will judge, although they will. Rather as soon as we hit publish, we invoke a curse. We are in effect inviting our family and life to prove wrong everything we thought we knew.

For example, a blogger may research and craft a well-written post about teaching children to forgive. She may write from her experience working with her own kids. However, the day after publishing, suddenly, her children will act as though they have never heard the word “forgive.” In an instant, those kids will be getting angry, holding grudges, and chasing each other around the house with plastic swords seeking revenge.

Just keeping that blogger humble I presume.

So you may find my post about one-on-one time and self worth inspiring, and then see that somedays I struggle to make time for that individualized connection.

Or, if you just downloaded my Monthly Meal Plan of simple homemade meals, and then visit and I serve you hot dogs or macaroni from a box for a week, please don’t judge.

I’m busy relearning.

The good news is that during that stage of re-visiting the topic post-curse, we often find that what we have written is actually some pretty good advice. So maybe it’s not really a curse. Perhaps it’s just life. Kids will challenge us, and parenting can be hard.

2.  Sometimes writing about parenting makes us worse parents.

Maybe it’s that post that needs to be edited or the pins that need to be shared that distract us. Perhaps we stayed up late putting the finishing touches on the latest piece of our product, so now we are exhausted in our interactions with the kids the next day.

Unfortunately, sometimes we don’t follow through on our good intentions to be incredible parents.

So to all the kids out there of parenting bloggers, I’m sorry you have a parent who cares so much about parenting.

Please know that your parents aren’t the only ones who make mistakes though. Every parent has a bad day, a shortcoming, or a habit they’d prefer to be rid of. Let’s be patient with each other, you kids and us parents. We’re in this together.

3.  Parenting bloggers actually do care an awful lot about parenting.

You eat, sleep, and breathe parenting tips, hacks, and truths. And at the end of the day, you truly hope all these efforts are actually making you a better parent, and actually helping other parents and their Littles.

You know it takes a village to raise compassionate kids who will succeed in life in the ways that matter most. You want to be an active participant in that village. You hope your readers share their real challenges with you because you genuinely want to be helpful.

Not So Different

I guess all of this makes us parenting bloggers a lot like all of the parents out there.

Parenting is humbling and challenging for all of us. Let’s see the humor in it and keep on trying.

We each have good days and bad days. Be quick to forgive yourself and others and be a little better tomorrow.

And we’re truly motivated by the possibility of doing good in this world. Dream big and be bold in your efforts.

So to all you parenting bloggers out there-  and all you other parents too-, good luck with your curses, may your bad days be few, and may your impact for good be expansive.
