Before story time, switch the dust cover jackets of two or more books. Let your child choose which book to read. When you open the book to a surprise story, have a quick conversation about how sometimes things are not how they look on the outside, especially people.

Write a letter to Santa and submit it online or drop it in a big red mailbox at a Macy’s store. For every letter, Macy’s will donate a dollar to Make-A-Wish (up to $1 million), which helps kids fighting critical illnesses have a wish come true.

  1. I love how easy it is to try out each of the little lessons that you’ve included here. There’s nothing too challenging or hard to apply. The lesson about not judging with the books is amazing! I’ve never seen that lesson framed in such a simple and understandable way for even young children.
