1. Something Fun: How to Play Reverse Sorry!

This little twist on an old favorite was a big hit.

Are you looking for fun family activities? Mix things up by playing Reverse Sorry! or changing the rules for a different favorite family game. Sorry! is one of our favorite family games. One night we mixed things up by creating some simple new instructions.

How to Play Reverse Sorry!

There are two important rule changes for how to play Reverse Sorry!

  1. You can only move other people’s pawns, not your own.
  2. The goal is to be the last one to have all your pawns reach HOME.

That’s it! Try playing like this just for a fun change or try playing any of your old favorites in a new way. Another example of this is what has now become a hit, Reverse Charades.

2. A Little Lesson: Write a Story

Choose a topic or lesson and have everyone write their own story about it.

Kids can learn important lessons by writing their own stories that teach the ideas. Click through for other quick tips and fun ideas for busy parents about building a stronger, happier family from www.lovinlifewithlittles.com. #teachingkids #intentionalparenting #parentingtips #learntogether #familylessons #writingstories #creativelessons

For example, everyone could write a story about someone that chooses to be kind or someone that works really hard or doesn’t give up. Younger kids can draw the pictures and tell you what to write.

Snuggle up and share your stories.

Wondering how to fit Little Lessons into your busy family schedule?

The two main ways to fit important lessons into your busy family schedule are to find spontaneous teaching moments throughout the day and to schedule family learning time each week. These two posts go into detail about these two ways and tips for making it happen with your family.

3. A Service Idea: Food Bank

We often think of this idea during the fall and winter holidays, but it’s a great idea year-round.

Are you looking for family service ideas? One simple service idea is to donate time, shelf-stable foods, or money to a local food bank. Gather shelf-stable food donations, volunteer your time, or donate money to a local food bank. Feeding America has ideas for how and where to help out, even (or especially!) during COVID times.

Service is a great way to build a stronger, happier family. If you want more service ideas, request Raising Compassionate Children in a Conceited World, which includes 101 Service Ideas for Families.

4. Something Random: Meal Planning

Effort counts…

Too true. Meal planning doesn't always fit the ideal. Click through for something fun, a little lesson, a service idea, something random, and a quick tip for busy parents from www.lovinlifewithlittles.com. #funnymeme #momlife #parentingmeme #toddlermeme

5. A Quick Tip: Persistence

This is such an encouraging truth…

"That which we persist in doing becomes easier to do." -Ralph Waldo Emerson Click through for encouragement for starting new routines, plus other quick tips for busy parents from www.lovinlifewithlittles.com. #fridaysfastfive #quickparentingtips #parentingtips #strongerfamily #happierfamily #intentionalparenting #persistence #familyroutines

The quote continues, “Not that the nature of the thing has changed, but our ability to do has increased.”

Whenever we’re struggling to teach a habit or learn something new as a family, this advice is so helpful.

Stick with it until it becomes routine. In fact, our kids thrive with routine, so when we persist through the messy middle, we’re doing everyone a favor.
